About Me
Energy systems scientist building AI-driven markets for a decentralized grid.
Dr.-Ing. Godwin Okwuibe — Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bayreuth and founder of EUnix Nexus.
Short Biography
I am Dr.-Ing. Godwin Okwuibe, an Energy Systems Scientist and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bayreuth. My work focuses on designing AI-driven energy markets, flexibility activation frameworks, and multi-agent architectures that support the transition toward decentralized, resilient, and consumer-centric power systems.
I have many years of experience across academia, industry, and applied research. My background spans energy market design, optimization, distributed energy resources (DERs), and battery storage systems, with expertise in both technical modeling and economic analysis.
I am also the founder of EUnix Nexus, an open research and innovation ecosystem for simulating local energy markets, virtual power plants, and flexibility trading across multi-market environments.
Professional Background
Before joining the University of Bayreuth, I worked at OLI Systems GmbH (Germany) where I contributed to the development of advanced flexibility trading platforms, multi-agent market frameworks, grid support mechanisms, and distributed energy resource coordination systems.
I have worked on several German and EU-funded projects, providing technical leadership in market modeling, simulation, and digital grid innovation:
- SURF
- DEER
- GrECCo
- BEST
- FLEXCHAIN
- KIMEA
